Refresh Your Space this Holiday Season

Those of you who know me know I’m usually pretty calm and don’t panic easily.

That is until this weekend and YIKES …………….where has the time gone this year?!

I just realized that Thanksgiving is only 30 days from now and like so many….COMPANY IS COMING ………… and Christmas is right behind that.

I love having people at our home to share in the planning, prep, and celebrating of holidays. To be a part of simple pleasures such as breakfast together or sitting to talk without rushing. More than anything I want my guests to feel comfortable and at home. I want them to have little amenities handy that will make them feel at home.

I start by getting small toiletry items like shampoo, conditioner, bath soap, lotion, and of course toothpaste and a brush. Who hasn’t forgotten their toothbrush? I put these out so they’re visible and accessible yet displayed nicely in a basket or on a tray. Doing this makes your guests feel welcome.

Next, I check to be sure I have extra towels, pillows, and blankets and I make sure that everything is clean, fresh, and ready to use. Adding a small vase with fresh flowers or a scented candle is a nice finishing touch. Its the little details that add so much and show how much you care.

It’s also nice to have small snacks in the area in their room. A couple of bottles of water, granola bars, or other treats you may know they enjoy. We all have occasional midnight cravings.

Even though the holidays are fast approaching, don’t panic as you still have time. Start gathering the small items and stocking up on things you’ll need. Have your linens fresh and ready to use. With everything at hand, all you’ll need to do is set things out and watch your guests enjoy and appreciate your thoughtfulness. Another happy holiday enjoyed by all.
